Apple set a new record in selling most number of iPhone's in a quarter. Apple's iPhone 7 & 7plus with their highly rated dual camera, IP67 certifications for water resistance helped it in selling record number of 78.3 millions during the festive season between October to December 2016 quarter. Previously Apple sold 74.8 million units in the festive season during 2015 which shows a healthy 4.7% increase in sales. In comparison Apple recently seen first ever iPhone sales decline in the first fiscal quarter that ended a streak of three consecutive quarters in iPhone sale decline with year over year.
Apple with the help of phablet sized iPhone 7plus stood as new leader among the line up in average selling price in a the quarter, that is around 694.57$, in compared to last year's 691$. It also surpassed Wall Street expected average selling price of 688$. Apple also reported 3.36$ Q1 earnings per share, that is up by mere 2% year over year that exceeded analyst's estimates of 3.22$ earning per share. The Revenue earned increased about 3% for the last quarter was 78.4$ in compared to Wall Street expected revenue to be around 77.4 billion$. Apple at the end of last fiscal quarter reported cash reserves amounting to 246.09 billion$.
Apple is expecting 51.5 to 53.5 million iPhone devices sales in the next fiscal quarter even after the foretasted sales to be sluggish. Apple reported a decline in iPad sales which was 13 million whereas it sold 16.12 millions in last fiscal quarter. Apple too reported a first ever decline in sales in china, that entered china five years ago.
Apple reported a decline in other category earnings comprising of Apple TV, Beats products, iPod, iSmart watch & other accessories. about 4.02 billion$ in the last three fiscal quarter of 2016 where as in 2015 it was 4.5 billion$.
