Recently BHIM app is updated to support regional languages such as Telugu, Oriya,Gujarat, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, users can take advantage of using this app in their own native language. A recent update now allows all the BHIM app users to pay or receive using their 12 digit aadhaar number linked with their bank accounts. If any till now haven't linked your aadhaar number with your bank account please do update at the earliest as there are host number of benefits in doing so. As on today more than 390 million bank accounts are linked with 12 digit aadhaar card number. Earlier there was authentication problem occured for dual sim phones but the update enables users to use either of their sim cards to authenticate as well as use for payments. It also enabled an option to either make your VPA publicly visible or disable the visibility.
UIDAI issued more than 1.11 billion aadhaar cards to registered people in india. since more than 90% public residing in India are holding aadhaar cards that contains unique 12 digits number. In this regard NPI-national payment corporation had seeded all the 1.11 billion registered 12 digits aadhaar card numbers to BHIM servers. It will help BHIM app useres to either receive or pay to other BHIM users using either with their registered mobile numbers or vpa-virtual payment address or 12 digits aadhaar card number.
In coming days NPI-national payment corporation will also launch a standalone Aadhaar pay app using which more than 90% population of india who have allready been issued aadhaar card can simply buy, transfer, pay any vendors across India by entering 12 digits aadhaar card number and authenticate bio metrically using their finger prints on the pos machine or smartphones. There by it allow every citizen in performing digital transactions with out the need of any kind of smartphones, no need to carry debit or credit cards or also to avoid using third party ewallets for the same.
As per the Information Technology Ministry Mr.Ravi Shanker Prasad aadhaar pay services have already been used & authenticated by 14 banks & more banks will come on to this payment platform there by increasing the number of digital payments across all the banks present in India.
